Position Summary

The Department of Economics and Marketing in the Romain College of Business at the University of Southern Indiana invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor of Economics position to begin in August 2027.

Duties/Responsibilities 

The successful candidate will be expected to teach in the undergraduate Economics program and a newly designed online undergraduate Business Economics program. Teaching responsibilities will include intermediate macroeconomics in an asynchronous online format and other topics based on department needs.

Courses in the new Business Economics Program will be delivered in an asynchronous online format, and courses in the Economics program may be face-to-face, hybrid, or asynchronous online format.

Economics faculty are expected to pursue innovative teaching practices, maintain an active research program, provide academic advising to students, and provide service at the program, university, and community levels.

Required Knowledge and Skills

A Ph.D. in economics from an accredited university is required. Applicants with ABD status will be considered for the rank of Instructor until degree is completed.

About the College

The Romain College of Business is dual accredited by the AACSB for business and accounting and plays an important role in the economic and social development of the region. The college currently enrolls approximately 1,100 undergraduate business majors across eight different programs and more than 1,000 MBA students across multiple concentrations. The college operates several state-of-the-art labs providing faculty access to high-quality resources for teaching and research. These labs include the Judith A. and Robert E. Griffin Experimental Economics Laboratory and the Biometrics Discovery Lab. The college is also scheduled to open a new Center for Applied Business Technologies in fall 2026.
