Position Summary

Kinney College of Health Professions at the University of Southern Indiana seeks applications for an Assistant Professor of Gerontology. This is a 10-month, tenure-track position that will provide teaching, research, student advising and service for the Bronstein Center for Healthy Aging and the Kinney College of Nursing and Health Professions as assigned and appropriate to area of academic and practice preparation. The appointment will begin immediately. 

Duties/Responsibilities 

  • Participate in curriculum design and revision of gerontology courses.
  • Prepare syllabus, course work, evaluation methods and grades for each course taught.
  • Prepare and teach courses for on-campus and distance education delivery.
  • Maintain current knowledge of program policies/procedures and student progress.
  • Advise students on academic issues, and provide mentoring and career counseling.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and revising of the college's strategic plan.
  • Perform service both to the University and to the community at large.
  • Participate in departmental and University governance in concert with other faculty.
  • Participate in appropriate organized professional activities.
  • Engage in and product scholarly work/research relevant to field/specialty.
  • Engage in grant activities as required for the Kinney College of Nursing and Health Professions and Bronstein Center for Healthy Aging and Wellness.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • A doctoral degree in gerontology or closely related discipline is required.
  • Must be capable of teaching, conducting research and providing service appropriate to the performance of duties for full participation in the affairs of the University and for promotion in accordance with program, college, and University policies.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills

Teaching experience at the university level desired.
