Position Summary
The University of Southern Indiana is accepting applications for Director of the Career Success Center.
Under the supervision of the Provost, the Director of Career Success Center leads a future-focused, student-centered office that prepares students and graduates for lifelong career success. This role champions equity-minded, holistic career development and cultivates strong partnerships with faculty, staff, employers, alumni, and community organizations. The Director ensures career readiness is integrated into the broader student learning experience and plays a pivotal role in student retention and post-graduation success.
Duties/Responsibilities
Visionary Leadership & Strategic Planning
• Lead a forward-looking, data-informed career services team that supports students in developing career confidence, clarity, and competencies.
• Set strategic priorities aligned with institutional goals for student success, workforce alignment, and regional engagement.
• Design and implement inclusive and scalable career development programming to serve diverse student populations.
Career Education & Student Success
• Direct comprehensive career development services including advising, career coaching, job/internship readiness, and alumni career support.
• Ensure personalized career guidance is embedded in the student lifecycle from first-year through graduation.
• Integrate career competencies (e.g., communication, digital literacy, teamwork) across co-curricular and academic experiences.
Employer & Industry Engagement
• Build and deepen relationships with a diverse range of employers and industry leaders to expand access to internships, jobs, and experiential learning opportunities.
• Collaborate with academic units to align curriculum with labor market trends and workforce needs.
• Serve as a campus connector between external organizations and faculty to co-create high-impact opportunities for student engagement.
Data-Driven Decision Making
• Lead efforts to track and report student career outcomes, internship participation, and engagement analytics.
• Develop performance metrics and assessment strategies to measure effectiveness and continuously improve services.
Staff Development & Operational Oversight
• Supervise and mentor a team of career development professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and professional growth.
• Oversee office operations including budget management, resource allocation, and service delivery.
Campus & Community Representation
• Serve as a visible advocate for career development across campus committees, working groups, and public events.
• Represent the university at regional and national conferences, industry forums, and community partnership meetings.
