Position Summary
The Art and Design Department at the University of Southern Indiana, a public university in Evansville, Indiana, seeks applications for a 9-month, full-time Instructor position in Art with specialty in 2-dimensional media to teach classes including drawing and 2-dimensional design. Appointment will begin August 2025.
Duties/Responsibilities
Candidates for this position should have the ability to teach a variety of two-dimensional foundational classes including Drawing and 2D design. The ability to teach other foundational courses such as Introduction to Digital Media or 3D design is preferred. The ideal candidate will have a deep commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentorship, utilize engaging and student-centered pedagogies, and have experience in foundational and interdisciplinary studio art practices.
The position is a 3/3 studio courseload. Other responsibilities include creative activity and scholarship, as well as service to the department, college, and university on committees and in other capacities (including advising) as needed by the university.
Required Knowledge and Skills
A terminal degree in an art studio related field (MFA or equivalent). Required degrees must be completed before start date.
Active, creative research in a 2D media as demonstrated by a record of regional and national peer-reviewed exhibitions. (juried or invitational exhibitions)
Preferred Knowledge and Skills
A successful record of teaching university courses in studio art, experience beyond graduate teaching is preferred.
