Position Summary
The Philip H Hagemann Performing Arts Department at the University of Southern Indiana, a public university in Evansville, Indiana, seeks applications for a one-year temporary, 9-month Teaching Assistant Professor of Theatre. Appointment will begin August 2025.
Duties/Responsibilities
This position will be expected to teach primarily face-to-face, design costumes or supervise student costume designers for every USI Theatre production and engage in professional and university service activities. Candidate will teach a 4/4 load that will include one reassigned course time each semester for design assignments. Must be able to teach classes in costume design, stage makeup, costume crafts, theatre history, and introduction to theatre. The successful candidate may teach additional design or technology courses based upon expertise. The successful candidate will be skilled in both hand and digital rendering, fabric modification and hair and wig styling.
Required Knowledge and Skills
Applicants must hold or be nearing completion of a Master of Fine Arts in Costume Design. Applicants in the process of finishing their degree will be considered if the degree will be conferred by hire date. Professional and/or teaching experience is required.
