Position Summary

The University of Southern Indiana is accepting applications for Indiana SANE Training Coordinator.

Kinney College of Nursing and Health Professions at the University of Southern Indiana invites applications for the position of Indiana SANE Training Coordinator. The Indiana SANE Training Coordinator, as a part of the Southwest Indiana Area Health Education Center, oversees the promotion, coordination, and development of didactic, clinical and supplemental education and training programs for sexual assault nurse examiners (SANE) from across rural and underserved areas of Indiana in collaboration with a variety of community, academic, coalition, and clinical partners. The Coordinator also facilitates collection of relevant data across Indiana for planning and evaluation purposes.

This is a federally funded grant position through June 30, 2027. 

Duties/Responsibilities 

  • Ensure budget compliance under the leadership of the Executive Director of Southwest Indiana AHEC.

  • Develop and enhance relationships between Southwest Indiana AHEC and entities involved in SANE training and SANE professional development, both across Indiana and nationally, to ensure all trainings are evidence-based best practice.

  • Collaborate with existing SANE training providers to provide financial support for nurses from rural and underserved communities to participate in existing trainings.

  • Assess the capacity for additional clinical training in rural and underserved areas across Indiana; coordinate with training partners to ensure relevant, effective trainings are developed and offered.

  • Convene and coordinate an advisory council for the project ensuring representation and participation among relevant partners, nurses, and key stakeholders.

  • Conduct surveys and data collection activities across Indiana to facilitate tracking of needs for SANE professionals.
    Explore strategies for long-term fiscal sustainability.

  • Prepare monthly progress reports.

  • Measure program effectiveness, promote program improvement activities, and complete all required reporting in a timely fashion.

  • Collaborate with the Southwest Indiana AHEC Executive Director, and relevant offices at the University of Southern Indiana to ensure effective grant monitoring, compliance, and reporting.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • 3-5 years of experience in education, social service, healthcare or related field.

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and web-based software programs.

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.

  • Must be able to work independently.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills

  • Master's degree in healthcare, social work, education or related field.

  • Technical and research findings analysis.

  • Grant management experience.

Regular Work Hours/Travel Requirements

  • Standard work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays required.
  • Occasional irregular hours may be required.
  • Travel in and out of Indiana is required.
